Root Canal Treatment

An Overview

A root canal (tooth root) is composed of nerve fibers and blood vessels; a pulpy matrix is filled between the tooth cavity that sometimes gets inflamed due to multiple reasons such as fracture or deep decay. With root treatment, elimination of inflammation and bacteria can be done to improve the health of buccal cavity.

Micro-Endodontics or the root canal treatment, is a comprehensive focus which is in practice nowadays.

Root canal treatment also includes root filling revisions, i.e., the renewed root filling in already root-treated teeth.

Who needs root canal treatment?

The most common symptoms that can indicate the need of a root canal problem are provided below.

  • Frequent appearance of pain, particularly in response to hold & cold stimulus

  • Swelling in the gums or inflammation in the tooth

  • Tenderness of the tooth i.e. feeling sensitivity on tapping the tooth

  • Bad taste or odor coming out from swollen gum

Some teeth seem to give little indication that there’s a problem within their nerve space. But an experienced dentist can easily look for subtle hints that are an obvious sign that a problem likely exists.

You can contact expert dentist of RxCura in Bangalore to seek expert guidance for your problem, without the need to visit them.

In most cases, it will be necessary to first apply local anesthesia; the tooth will be anesthetized. As a result, the tooth is opened to the pulp chamber using a drill. The carious, infected substance or the pulp tissue is removed, an existing bleeding is breast-fed, and the tooth is dried. To keep away saliva and microorganisms from the surgical field in the further course, a special clamping rubber is suitable for screening (rubber dam). This is a rubber latex, which is fixed to the tooth with a clip and is clamped outside the oral cavity in a frame.

Step-by-step process of root Canal Treatment

A. Depth of the root canals electronically or radiographically.

Teeth can be individually different in size, and accordingly, the tooth roots are differently long. Depending on the tooth group, they reach differently into the jaw bone. The root canal filling should be approximately 0.5 to 1.5 millimeters in front of the root tip since the root canals usually have their narrowest point here.

Bacteria or root canal filling material should not reach beyond the tip of the root, as this can lead to painful tissue reactions. Therefore, the required length of the root canal filling (working length) is determined with a so-called measuring x-ray and electronic devices (Apex locators). In pregnancy, of course, no x-ray should be prepared. Here the electronic length determination (endometry with Apex locators) proves to be very helpful.

B. Clean, expand and form channels

Once the channel inputs are found, the channels are processed with root canal instruments to remove the infected tissue in the channels. This is done in several steps, for which you need differently thin instruments (up to 0.1 mm). Since the channels are usually very narrow and curved, these instruments must be very flexible and well-cut. They should not be too thick and stiff. Otherwise they will not follow the canal course and possibly damage or destroy the tooth roots.

C. Disinfect the canal system, dissolve residual tissue

The root canals are not only narrow and curved, but they also have different branches and lateral canals. As a result, many areas cannot be reached with mechanical instruments, which is why the root canal system is thoroughly rinsed after mechanical processing. Various rinsing agents are required to dissolve organic tissue residues, kill bacteria and remove residues of the tooth substance from the canal wall. After rinsing the root canals are dried with different paper tips.

D. Close the drainage system tightly

If there was pain or a swelling already before the treatment, after cleansing and disinfecting, an antimicrobial drug is first introduced into the root canal system in most cases. The tooth is closed with a provisional, easily removable material.

The root canal system must be tightly closed to prevent microorganisms from reaching the oral cavity through the tooth into the jaw bone. The material of the root canal filling must above all be biologically compatible; it should not trigger any defensive reactions of the tissue around the tooth or the jawbone. Also, it must seal well and must not be allowed to dissolve in the tissue fluid. If pain or a swelling continue after the treatment, the root canal filling must also be removed. Finally, it is necessary that the filling is also visible in the X-ray image and can be controlled.

What are the possible benefits of this treatment?

Saving the natural tooth with this form of treatment offers several advantages including:

  • Normal biting sensation and force

  • Effective chewing process

  • Natural appearance

  • Protection of teeth over excessive wear or strain

What is Mandibular Fracture?

A Mandibular fracture is a breakthrough the mandibular bone (lower jaw), which can be triggered by a traumatic or occur spontaneously, depending on the debilitating intrinsic circumstances or violent muscular contractions. Traumatic agents can be mechanical (traffic accidents, labor, fighting), physical-chemical, or pathological.

According to specialists in RxCura, these agents can act through two differentiated mechanisms. The direct, by which the fracture occurs in the same place where the agent has worked, and the indirect one, whereby the fracture occurs at some distance from the place of impact, which may or may not be fractured.

Clinically, Oral Fracture is usually characterized by:

Veneers treatment are mainly used for three reasons: Wear, genetics and worn enamel

  • Inability in opening or closing the mouth completely

  • Deformity of the mandibular arch resulting in misalignment of upper & lower teeth (inappropriate occlusion)

  • Crepitation, displacement and abnormal mobility of lower jaw,

  • Painful inflammation on palpation.

  • Facial asymmetry (fracture or bone dislocation).

  • Crepitation, displacement and abnormal mobility of lower jaw,

  • Anesthesia of the lips (i.e. Loss of sensation) due to injury to the nerve.

  • Altered sensation (Paresthesias) in tongue, lips, bleeding gums.

Mandibular fractures are typically the result of trauma either a fall onto the chin or a hit from the side or accidents.

The mandibular areas most susceptible to fractures are the mental foramen, mandibular angle, condyle neck, areas weakened by the absence of teeth. Diagnosis can be made with X-rays, CT scans.

For Broken Jaw Treatment, it is necessary, in the first instance, to save the life of the patient if it has been put in danger. Treating mandibular fracture involves providing the optimal environment for bony healing to occur like adequate blood supply, immobilization and proper alignment of fracture segments. Most fracture requires reduction and fixation to allow for primary and secondary bone healing. Immediate surgery is not necessarily required. Supportive treatment with antibiotics should be started first. Specific treatment of Broken Jaw Surgery may even delay between 7 and 10 days later. The goal is to reduce displacement to establish a normal occlusion of the patient and immobilize the fracture fragments until the bone is reattached.

There are different types of method to fix the broken mandible like reduction, intermaxillary fixation with arch bar, screw, splints. The method adopted by your doctor will depend on the site and severity of fracture, patient age and presence or absence of teeth on the fracture site

Dentists at Rxcura Oral Fracture Treatment clinic take into account patient safety before proceeding to repair maxillofacial fractures. Such fractures can cause severe complications, such as infections, delayed union or lack of union of bone fragments and occlusion disorders, among others. To avoid this, it is necessary to carefully follow the appropriate treatment, which will be informed by your specialists.

Digital Smile Makeover

Things to know about Digital Smile Makeover

A Digital Smile Makeover is a process that is intended to give a person a more upright, more attractive smile with the help of specialized software to simulate the corrected smile upfront. Many people are self-conscious of their smile because they feel that their teeth are not enough white/ fairly straight or they have missing teeth or fillings. These problems cause people so self-aware that they do not want to smile or laugh or even get photographed because they are unhappy with their appearance. If this is the case then Smile Makeover is the right solution for you.

What kind of problems can be rectified with Smile Makeover?

Often the frame of a Smile Makeover treatment includes straightening the crooked teeth that are overlapping each other so that they can be moved into better positions. Unsightly holes can cause a person to feel a hesitant about smiling, so these problems are usually addressed in the smile makeover procedure. If a person is missing teeth, they can also be replaced as part of the process of the smile makeover. The number of processes a person needs will depend on the dental problems he has, and each case is unique.

Types of Treatment covered in Smile Makeover

Smile Makeover not only covers the Cosmetic Dental treatment but also compulsive treatment for correction of teeth disorders. Some of the procedures (among others) are:

  • Veneers or Lumineers: These fine porcelain shells are tied to your teeth to conceal dental defects and create a brighter smile. Both options are stain resistant, durable, and easy to maintain.

  • Teeth whitening: Who does not want a brighter and whiter smile? RxCura Digital Smile Makeover clinic can definitely help you achieve this through whitening in clinics or takeaway bleach trays.

  • Bonding: With dental bonding, we can improve the appearance and functioning of your teeth by building and shaping the tooth with a compound and colored resin.

  • Crowns: A crown helps to improve the health, function or appearance of the tooth. They are used for aesthetic purposes as well as for repairing damaged teeth requiring protection.

  • Bridges: A dental bridge can restore your smile by filling the space created by one or more missing teeth. It consists of crowns (for teeth on either side of the space) and false teeth (for gaps).

  • Implants: If you have removed a tooth, you may be interested in a dental implant that will replace the roots of the tooth and will create a solid foundation for a replacement tooth designed to match your natural teeth.

What to expect in Digital Smile Designing

Getting a Digital Smile Designing usually begins with an appointment with a cosmetic dentist. The dentist will usually evaluate the overall dental health of the patients and the different possibilities to improve his smile. The patient usually can tell the dentist what his expectations are for his or her beautiful smile. Your dentist will design the makeover smile with the help of specialized software. The simulated smiles can be seen by the patient over the computer and can provide their inputs to enhance it further.

While a smile makeover offers you many benefits that include enhancing appearance, giving you a confident smile and more, there are some disadvantages to consider. For example, a Digital Smile Design can be expensive. Also, some smile makeover procedures can take a long time, involving a few trips to the dentist, especially for those who require a high degree of dental reconstruction.

At RxCura, we strive to provide the best Digital Smile Makeover in Bangalore to our patients at very affordable prices. Our aim is to bring out the best smile hidden in every face.

Dental Jewelry

Dental Jewelry- Know everything about this craze

Dental jewels are very much sought after lately, especially among young people, giving a unique decoration to your smile!

Dental jewelry can be zirconium or real diamond

Applying zirconium on the tooth is a completely painless, fast and simple operation. Zirconium can be found in different colors, it attaches to the tooth without damaging it, i.e. without having to squander it. The beauty and splendor of the zirconia attracts the gaze of every person to whom your smile is addressed.

To date, there are different types of Tooth Jewelry that apply to the dental surface as explained below. Dental jewelry is placed on the front teeth of the upper arch.

Paste

They are artificial crystals of small size which are fastened to the teeth by means of special glue for short periods of time, ranging from a few weeks to 2 months. These crystals are non-toxic and 100% safe to use whenever you buy and them placed from a certified professional in the area.

DScales

The scales are small jewels that are processed with a special technology, where they degrade the material in different phases to make specific forms. As far as we talk about the appearance, they do not differ much from the paste. Chances are that only its owner has true knowledge of the origin of those small glitters in their smile. However, the great difference is that they last a long time without risk of them coming off even for 2 or 3 years and without having any type of problems.

Twinkle

They are figures made of gold with some or no gems. These forms of jewels go beyond the usual shapes of geometric figures. It is the only type of dental jewelry that allows you to incorporate precious stones. The most used forms are diamonds, sea water, sapphires and of course paste, imitating any kind of jewel. When using such exotic materials, the tooth jewelry costs of these small pieces are high.

Is it safe to use dental jewelry?

Dental jewelry is bonded with chemical bonds through adhesives that are also used when making the fillings with the method called Bonding system.

Oral hygiene is maintained with toothbrush and toothpaste, as usual, to prevent the onset of dental plaque around and within dental jewelry.

Dental jewelry are 100% safe and are easily removable when you don’t need them.

How to remove them?

If you want to remove Tooth jewelry from teeth then it can be done very easily: the jewel and the sticker are removed by carefully grouting, without damaging the dental enamel!

If you decide to apply a real bright (0.004 carat) diamond, the procedure is slightly different. For safety reasons, the dental enamel must be covered with a special drill (0.3 mm) and the diamond is attached to the “tooth”.

An interesting fact is that some people undergo Tooth jewelry treatment for practical purposes, such as hiding individual deficiencies in the teeth (roughness, pigmentation, etc.), dental jewelry is considered attractive in different countries and helps to create an unusual style, but it is necessary to remember that only professionals are able to install and remove them when you want them to, without serious consequences.

Our experts in RxCura for dental jewelry in Bangalore will be able to give your teeth an extra touch of brightness but safely and without unpleasant surprises during tooth jewelry procedure.

Dental Crowns & Bridges Treatment By RxCura – India’s Trusted Chain of Dental Clinics

If teeth has lost a lot of tooth structure, whether by extensive caries, an accident, or simply want to improve the aesthetics of our smile, a crown is the best solution for the tooth.

Dental Crowns

Dental Crowns by RxCura are basically a tailor made cover that covers the entire surface of the tooth. The structure of the tooth wears a couple of millimeters to allow permanent cementation of the crown. A Crown protects the tooth from further damage and improves its shape & look. For the improved appearance, porcelain or ceramic crowns are the most preferred choice as they can be matched to the natural color of the teeth.

Why do you need a Crown?

If you have a very large filling in a tooth, each time you chew, the natural parts of the tooth (i.e. not the restorative material of the filling) flex and are at risk of fracture.

If this fracture extends below the gingiva, or the center of the tooth where the nerve is located, this often results in tooth loss. One advantage of the crown is that it encapsulates or protects the remaining tissue of the natural tooth, in addition to the restorative material of the filling, and prevents this flexion from occurring, thus avoiding the future loss of your tooth.

The dentist will recommend a crown for:

  • Replace large seals, when not enough tooth

  • Prevent a weak tooth from fracturing

  • Repair a fractured tooth

  • Place a bridge

  • Covering a dental implant

  • Cover a discolored or deformed tooth

  • Covering a tooth that has undergone root canal treatment

Types of Porcelain Dental Crowns

There are various types of Porcelain Dental Crowns:

  • Complete conventional porcelain dental crowns (porcelain jacket)

  • Dental porcelain crowns

  • Repair a fractured tooth

  • Porcelain crowns fused to metal (VMK, or Zirconia)

  • Temporary Crowns

  • Permanent Crowns

Based on the qualities and features you need in a particular tooth we will advise you on the pros and cons of certain types of dental crowns. For example if you have a heavy bite, and need a very strong crown, you may need a Zirconium crown or an E-max. If you need something very aesthetic, like the crown on a previous tooth, you may need a Porcelain Jacket or E-max crown.

Other concerns to consider are, for example, if you have metal under the crown that has to be concealed so that it does not show through your crown, you would certainly need the porcelain option fused with dental metal crown.

Dental Bridges

If you are missing one or more teeth, you can replace them with a fixed bridge. A bridge are two crowns (on both sides of the hollow) fused to another crown that fills the hollow in the middle. Bridges can be placed in both the posterior and anterior teeth zone, and these bridges have a white ceramic finish mimicking the rest of their teeth.

Crowns & Bridges Procedure can be placed on both natural teeth and implants. The difference lies in what structure (tooth or implant) will support the bridge. If you do not have natural teeth in your mouth, you can restore your teeth with an overdenture (removable device supported on 2 to 4 implants in each arch, depending on the case), or a fixed implanted implant (fixed device supported on 6 to 8 Implants in each arch, depending on the case).

What is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are basically artificial tooth roots which are used for the replacement of missing tooth. They assume the function of artificial tooth roots to support crown, bridges and dentures on top of it.

There is nothing better than healthy teeth and gums, which are in a good condition by adopting regular preventive treatment (prophylaxis). However, the lack of early prevention leads to serious problems with our jaw and teeth. Every dentist strives to save a diseased tooth, which often cannot happen because the caries or periodontal disease has already caused enough damage. The tooth must then go away – complete or a part of it. In such cases, Dental Implants are normally used to set the root of the tooth.

More simply, the dental implant represents an artificial root which is inserted in the jaw at the site of the missing tooth. When the wound in the jaw is cured, new tissue is formed around the implant. Later a crown is mounted on the root.

These Dental Implants are made of titanium because this material is very well tolerated and does not harm the organism. The implants usually consist of different parts and have different size and shape – depending on the individual needs of the patient.

Vanity is not the only reason why an Implant Dentistry should be used. They are placed in the jaw, because without them, our quality of life would suffer. Dental Implants provide below advantages:

  • 1) Dental Implants provide the look very closer to natural tooth and thus are most desirable treatment for the missing tooth

  • 2) Implants are built to last long. They are better long term solution compared to other options such as Fixed Dentures and Removable Dentures.

  • 3) Dental implants function like your own teeth, allowing you to eat your favorite foods with confidence and without pain.

  • 4) Dental Implants improve your speech without worry that teeth might slip as in case of poorly fitted Dentures

  • 5) Dental Implants gives you comfort of your natural smile without worrying about the embarrassment of missing teeth or slipping of removable Dentures.

  • 6) And a lot more!

What does such a treatment cost?

The Dental Implant Cost vary considerably, depending on number of implants required, which company produces the implants and what materials are made from them. Here it is very important to say that you only have to rely on high-quality materials, because only they could offer a good quality.

For this reason, you should never trust dentists who promise miracles, almost free of charge. Always inquire about experience of the Implantologist, how long he has already used implants and what success he has (normally 85 -90% Implants are successful). If you do not like something, look for a second opinion. It is generally true that good and reliable treatment costs more and more. We will be happy to guide on choosing you the best Dental Implant treatment in Bangalore.

Did you know that dental implants are one of the best treatment options to replace lost teeth?

Instead of using removable prostheses or using adjacent teeth as a support for the use of a dental bridge, Implant Dentistry are long-term substitute components that the oral and maxillofacial surgeon places surgically in the maxillary bones, thus giving us an artificial tooth that looks aesthetically well and that fulfills all the masticatory functions that are needed as if it were a natural tooth.

Current Problem in Indian Dental Industry

The number of dentists has been increased rapidly due to the privatization of the dental colleges in India. Based on The Indian Dental Association (IDA) report, the oral care infrastructure had 1,80,000 dentists as of 2012. This is expected to grow to 3,00,000 by 2018.

As per report from various sources, Job opportunities are less in government and private sector; so most dental professionals have to start private dental offices. Every year approx. 12,000 to 15,000 new practices start in the country.

Currently, many user-friendly online sites are available to search for a Doctor. However, online search results just show hundreds of clinics with no way to ensure quality.

Patients normally have less faith in the quality of an individual clinic than a branded hospital/clinic chain. Also, the charges vary significantly for procedures across multiple Clinics. However, the branded hospital/ clinic chain charge hefty monies for treatment.

Do you want a whiter and brighter smile?

Teeth whitening is an easy and safe procedure that can lighten stained or discolored teeth. The teeth naturally dark with age and their appearance can be affected by the use of tobacco products and the consumption of certain foods or drinks.

Teeth Whitening, if maintained properly, can leave patients with results that last long. The In-Clinic Professional Teeth Whitening at RxCura is an easy quick and non-invasive cosmetic treatment producing immediate results.

Common causes of teeth discoloration

There are some intrinsic and extrinsic causes of teeth discoloration

  • 1. Certain food and drinks like tea coffee betel leaf

  • 2. Dental Plaque

  • 3. Tobacco stains

  • 4. Some medication like tetracyclin, chlorhexidine

  • 5. Fluoride stain

  • 6. Trauma to the tooth

  • 7. Some developmental disorder like dentinogenesis imperfecta, amelogenesis imperfecta.

Methods of teeth whitening

Teeth whitening can be done in two ways 1) In office bleaching 2) Home bleaching. Both the methods use peroxide based bleaching agent, but in different percentages. In office bleach contain more peroxide than home bleaching.

1). In Office Bleach – In this method, dentists generally use light activated bleaching system. First, the bleaching gel is applied to the teeth after the protection of the soft tissue. Then the bleaching agent is activated by heat or laser power in the dental clinic. Laser Teeth Whitening Treatment has been extensively tested and proven to have no long-term negative effect on enamel, dentine teeth or gums.

The in-office bleaching gives significant result even in a single session. However, for the optimal result you may need more sessions.

2).Home Bleach – In this method, your dentist will provide you prefabricated tray with bleaching agent. In most cases, the dentist will take impressions of your teeth to prepare an ultra-thin mouth tray customized in a dental laboratory. The tray is used to keep the whitening gel near the teeth. The whitening gel is placed in the tray which needs to be worn twice per day for 2 weeks or according to instruction of your dentist. Results are usually seen within two weeks. Your dentist will tell you about how long to wear the tray both initially and for maintenance.

This results of home bleach technique may be lesser than the in-office bleaching but it has many advantages like less time at clinic, low cost & self-administration.

Are there risks associated with Teeth Bleaching Procedure?

The two most common side effects are a slight increase in sensitivity of tooth and mild irritation in the soft tissues, especially the gums. Dental sensitivity may occur in the early stages of bleaching. These two conditions are temporary and usually disappear within 1 to 3 days at the end of treatment.

Teeth whitening may not be appropriate for all patients, so before starting any teeth whitening procedure, it is best to discuss the expected results and delays with dentist. Please visit one of the RxCura’s teeth bleaching clinic in Bangalore for quality treatment at affordable prices.
